Founded in 1969 by Mrs Regina Anthony, the Zululand Observer is the largest newspaper publishing house in its area of distribution in KZN from the Tugela River to Pongola, and inland covering Ulundi, eShowe, Melmoth, Nongoma and Hlabisa. Initially established in Empangeni, it has grown to a stable of proudly professional award-winning products. The eight audited publications include the Zululand Observer Weekend edition, Zululand Observer Monday edition, Bay Watch Eyethu, Umlozi Wezindaba, Zululand Eyethu, Northern Eyethu, Eastern Watch, and Agri Eco. To meet its growing printing demands the Zululand Observer invested in Darwain Printing Works in 1996, which also caters for outside printing. True to its slogan of producing born and bred Zululand publications the Company has invested close on R20m in property in addition to the Darwain Printing Works, and prides itself in purchasing local at all times
